Brian Lewerke was asked about his thoughts on a certain Michigan State football transfer considering Michigan.

The Jaden Mangham stove is red-hot right now and it seems like every former Michigan State football player is cooking.

Less than 24 hours after news broke that Mangham would be taking a visit to Michigan next weekend, a handful of former players have spoken out about the decision. Guys like Tony Lippett and Felton Davis III have called into question Mangham’s mental strength and RJ Shelton has joined the mix.

On Wednesday evening, Brian Lewerke was asked his thoughts on the news and he was not a fan.

Should we even be surprised that players from the last successful teams at Michigan State are calling out the move? Lewerke and Davis III had their own success against Michigan and led that 2017 team to 10 wins while Shelton and Lippett were part of the most successful era of Michigan State football in decades. They have every right to question the decision to visit Michigan after playing two years in East Lansing.

Lewerke had an up-and-down career at Michigan State but his performance against Michigan in 2016 before breaking his leg and his win in Ann Arbor in 2017 give him enough room to talk. He was no slouch at the quarterback position, passing for over 8,000 yards and 47 career touchdowns in East Lansing. He was a captain and a leader and if he says the thought would’ve never crossed his mind, it’s probably a common consensus among former players.

I’m sure we’ll see more former players weigh in on this Mangham-to-Michigan visit in the coming days. The news is only starting to get around on social media but his older brother, Jalen Mangham, is not helping matters by going after Davis III, Shelton, and Lippett.

Former players are in agreement that Jaden doesn’t deserve the “Spartan Dawg” tag.
