Broncos should trade WR Jerry Jeudy to focus on developing rookie Marvin Mims Jr.

The Denver Broncos should trade wide receiver Jerry Jeudy before the deadline on Oct. 31, allowing promising rookie Marvin Mims Jr. to assume a larger role.

"We've seen enough," wrote Sean Keeler of The Denver Post. "Unless the plan is to showcase No. 10 for a trade, [Broncos head coach] Sean Payton, we're begging you here: less Jerry, more Marvin."

Surprisingly, the second-round pick out of Oklahoma has been more dynamic than Jeudy. In six games, he has 10 receptions for 246 yards, even though he's only played on 97 snaps, per Pro Football Reference. Conversely, the fourth-year WR has 20 receptions for 222 yards on 210 snaps in five games.

"We're faced with a challenge sometimes of trying to find that balance between [Courtland] Sutton, Jeudy and Mims Jr. and the guys that we feel like can make plays in space," Payton said of the rookie's low snap count Monday, via Keeler.

Yet the Broncos should focus on making Mims Jr. their future No. 1 WR instead. While he's just a rookie, Denver should prioritize developing its talented, young players because it has nothing to lose. The team only has a one percent chance to make the playoffs after a 1-5 start, per The New York Times simulator.

The Broncos could hold on to Jeudy, but acquiring more draft capital to reload is a bigger priority. The Athletic's Dianna Russini reported they will discuss moving Sutton and Jeudy to get more picks.

Jeudy, 24, is a former first-round pick with some upside. So, a team may be willing to take a chance on him and offer a decent package.
Although Mims Jr. is only 21, he clearly has star potential. If he fulfills it, it will help the team kick-start its rebuild as it searches for more young talent.
