Surprisingly, New York Jets quarterback Zach Wilson has outplayed Houston Texans rookie QB C.J. Stroud — an MVP candidate, per oddschecker.
With 11:05 remaining in the third quarter, Wilson threw a 15-yard TD to wide receiver Randall Cobb, giving the Jets a 7-0 lead.

Through three quarters, the Jets third-year QB has completed 19-of-26 passes for 216 yards and one TD. Stroud, meanwhile, has completed 6-of-13 passes for 28 yards. It's possible that this can be attributed to lousy weather and a New York defense ranked third in the NFL in passing yards allowed (176.6).
The Athletic's Dianna Russini recently reported Wilson was hesitant about re-entering the starting lineup after the team recently benched him. On Tuesday, Jets head coach Robert Saleh refuted this report.
Regardless, Wilson is rebuilding some confidence against the Texans. In 10 games, the former first-round pick has completed 59.2 percent of his passes for six TDs, seven picks and a below-average 30.4 QBR.
